Vietnamese coffee is best brewed and served as a strong, short cup of coffee; for which the phin (or drip) filter is perfect.

The traditional phin filter is the perfect space saving coffee accessory. Used widely across Vietnam and the Indochine region, these compact single serving filters create an individual cup of rich, velvety Vietnamese coffee; perfect brewed over a glass mug to watch the beautiful brewing process.

These filters create an incomparable coffee flavour yet require no expensive machinery or paper filters. All you need is coffee, water and a filter and you have the makings of a delicious, authentic drink to be enjoyed at any time of day.

What is a phin filter?

  •  Filter chamber - to hold the coffee and water
  •  Filter press - to press the coffee before water is added
  •  Holding tray - to allow the coffee to brew directly into the cup
  •  Cap - to cover the filter while the coffee is brewing

How to use the phin filter

  1.  Place one rounded tablespoon of fresh ground Vietnamese coffee into the filter chamber and shake to even out the coffee.   2.  Place the filter press into the filter and spin a couple of times to flatten the coffee, enabling even brewing.
  3.  Place filter on the holding tray and pour a little hot water in to moisten the coffee. Wait 20 seconds.
  4.  Fill the filter chamber 2/3rds full and place the cap on top.
  5.  Sit back, relax and watch your fresh Vietnamese Coffee brew for 3-4 minutes.
  6.  Remove the cap, and place the holding tray and filter on to the upturned cap.
  7.  Enjoy!
